Role: Mixing, Editing, and Sound Design
I created "Round n’ Rollin" as a tribute to Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, specifically honoring the sampling culture started by legends like Grandmaster Flash. The challenge I set for myself was to build a completely new song using only three source tracks: “Will It Go Round In Circles” by Billy Preston, “Hocus Pocus” by Focus, and “Cover of the Rolling Stone” by Dr. Hook. Since I didn’t have multitracks, I had to be unconventional with my editing. I used FL Studio and modern stem separation tools to pull apart the original stereo masters, extracting clean drum hits and melodic loops. It was a mix of old-school "flipping" and modern digital engineering to get three completely different genres to play nice together in a single hip-hop beat.
