Role: Sampling, Mixing, and Editing
The Old Time Radio project was all about building a world from the ground up. I took a noir-style script and turned what could have been just two people talking into a mic into a full 3D audio experience. The original recordings felt pretty flat on their own, so I had to get creative with sound design to really sell the atmosphere. I layered in everything from footsteps and heavy doors to a ticking clock and distant thunder. My goal was to make the listener feel like they weren't just hearing a story, but actually standing in the room with the characters.
Technical Specs
Scripted, recorded, and edited an original noir-themed radio show, focusing on period-correct vocal delivery and pacing.
Developed an immersive sound design layer by layer, using custom foley and environmental cues to build a realistic world around the dialogue.
Leveraged Vegas Pro for complex pan and volume automation, creating a spatial effect that lets listeners track where characters are moving in the room.
Managed dynamic layering to keep the "noir" atmosphere thick and moody without letting the background noise bury the main conversation.
Applied vintage-style processing to the final mix to capture that warm, lo-fi radio sound from the 1940s.
